At the back, on the right top, we have the camera and the flash light just beside it. Both are cut outs from the thin strip covering the SIM and the memory card slot. At the center back, tecno is written.
The tecno pad two come in a slim metal casing with a strip at the edge giving it an elegant look.it comes with a pouch that has a transparent plastic back with an opaque flexible front cover. The front cover is broken down into four uneven spaces, so it can fold ton support the phone in landscape mode. The screen also automatically switch off when the screen closes. The front case is made of metal strips between clothing materials.
The 7.85 inch high definition IPS capacitive touchscreen is perfect for reading e books, playing game and watching movies. It has a resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels and offer more dots per inch when compared to its predecessor thus making renderings sharper than its predecessor. This features ensures that the pictures and logo are rendered very sharp. The tablet is furnished with gyro, proximity and light sensor. The light sensor gives the phone the ability to adapt its screen bright ness to match that of the environment.
The tab runs on the 4.2.2 android operating system called the jelly bean. For tabs in its caliber, the tablet runs pretty smooth. Even though it only has one gigabytes random access memory, it rarely hangs. Underneath the hood is a MT8389 quad core processor that peaked at 1.3 GHz, this made the phone runs app fast and only lag if the app is extremely heavy. It has an internal memory of 16 GB which can be expanded by the external memory slot up to 32 GB. This allows for storage of app, document, video, music and other big files.
The phone has both front (5 mega pixels) and back camera (also 5 MP). The back camera has flash and it features auto focus and geo tagging while the front camera has auto focus but no flash light. The camera has the capacity to record a 720p HD video both in front and at the rear with 30 frames per second speed. It snaps with a maximum resolution of 2592 by 1944 pixels, well that is a large one, for both camera. The down side of the front camera apart from the no flashlight is that the tab is a bit big to hold with one hand and still snap with that same hand on the go. The tab also features panorama snap, HDR snap, smile and face detection and both the front and the back camera can do this.
The phone features a battery capacity of 4200 mAh which supports the phone, though the battery consumption compare to charging is nothing to write home about. The rate of charging is slower than the rate of battery drain. The battery is quite enough if you are not too powerfully using the phone, though it is not that it won’t run but the screen size and the screen lights is part of the consumer of the battery. It usually last for about a day on the average which is a bit okay, compare to other tablets of the same caliber. The battery is non removable and its placed underneath the metal casing.
On the communications side, it has a WIFI IEE 802.11 b/g/n, it also has WIFI portable hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, USB port 5 pin 2.0. Messaging functions include SMS, MMS, Email, push mail and instant messaging. Its browser uses the HTML5 platform which made this tab one of the first tab to utilize this platform.
This tab doesn’t support java but it supports SNS integration, mp4/mpeg4/h.263/h.264 player, and MP3/WAV/eACC +/ac3/FLAC player. It also features document viewer, FM radio, image viewer and editor, voice memo/dial/command, predictive text input and lots more.
Compared to its predecessor, the tecno pad 1, it offers more in most aspect except for the smaller screen size. The pad 2 features a 7.85 inch display while pad 1 features an 8 inch display though they both have the same resolution. Pad 1 runs a 1.2 GHz quad core processor while pad 2 runs on a processor speed of 1.3 GHz.
Though the tab is a bit old in terms of the production date, yet the tablet is a good one if you are looking for a comfy( in sense of big but not too big tab) which has the capacity of a phone and also combines the features a tab, then tecno tab 2 G9 is the right device.
